After leaving the school due to alleged behavioral problems with the religious sisters who ran the school, Hayek returned to Mexico for a period, but then she was sent to Houston, Texas, to live with her aunt, where she stayed until she was 17. She subsequently moved to Mexico City for college, where she studied International Relations at the Universidad Iberoamericana. To the chagrin of her family, she decided to drop out in order to pursue a career as an actress.

At the age of 23, Hayek landed the title role in Teresa (1989), a successful telenovela (Mexican soap opera) which earned her star status in her native country. In September 2006 Hayek added another accomplishment, that of executive producer of Ugly Betty, an American television series that has attracted a lot of attention and critical acclaim. Hayek adapted the series for American Television with Silvio Horta who aquired the rights and scripts from the Colombian Telenovela Yo Soy Betty La Fea in 2001. Originally intended for NBC in 2004, the project would later be picked up by ABC as a 2006-2007 Fall TV season entry thanks in part to the buzz and feedback Hayek's contribution has generated.

Hayek dated fellow actor Edward Norton for four years, between 1999 and 2003, and then Josh Lucas from 2003 until 2004.

Concerning marriage Hayek has said, "Women have been taught that in order to have a place in the world, an identity, they must marry and have children. If that's the life you truly want, great. But for many women, marriage is only about needing the world to know that someone desires them enough to say, 'Here's a contract to prove that I love you and will commit to you for the rest of my life.' Varela was born in Santiago, Chile. Her parents are the famous Chilean biologist Francisco Varela and Leonor Palma, a French-Italian-Algerian dancer. She has one sister Alejandra and two brothers, Javier and Gabriel.

Varela's family fled to Costa Rica in her early childhood when her homeland was overtaken by a military regime. She subsequently resided in Germany, the U.S., and France. Biography

Beckinsale was born in London to Judy Loe, a stage and television actress, and Richard Beckinsale, a television actor who died in 1979 at the age of 31. She has a paternal half-sister, Samantha, who is also an actress. Beckinsale's paternal great-grandfather was Burmese, and Beckinsale has said that she was "very oriental-looking" as a child.

Beckinsale attended the private Godolphin and Latymer School, and in her teens twice won the W. H. Smith Young Writers' competition — once for three short stories and once for three poems. After a rebellious adolescence, including a period of anorexia and starting a smoking habit, she followed in the footsteps of her parents and began her acting career. Her first role was in One Against the Wind, a television film about World War II that was first aired in 1991. Having gained three language A levels, Beckinsale studied French and Russian literature at New College, Oxford, though she did not finish her degree. She thought that having an academic background studying foreign language and literature would broaden her range of acting roles.

During her first year at Oxford, Beckinsale was offered a part in Kenneth Branagh's big-screen film, Much Ado About Nothing, adapted from the Shakespeare play. She spent her last year of studies in Paris, after which she decided to quit the university and concentrate on her acting career. Kate starred in a 1996 TV film adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma. She subsequently appeared in a few low-profile films, including Shooting Fish and The Last Days of Disco (both in 1998). Menounos, however, never forgot the film or the film's director. In 2005, Menounos personally funded the recovery and restoration of the film. The film premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.

Rachel Lauren Stevens, born April 9, 1978, is an English singer and an occasional actress and model. Formerly with the successful pop group S Club 7, she has now launched a solo recording career.

After a successful audition Stevens became a member of the British pop group "S Club 7", selling sixteen million records worldwide and achieving four number one hit singles in the United Kingdom. The group was disbanded in 2003 for reasons undisclosed. Stevens became the first member of the band to sign a multi-million dollar recording contract and released her first solo single, "Sweet Dreams My LA Ex", in late 2003, reaching number two on the UK singles chart. Her first album did not fare so well, peaking disappointingly at number nine on the UK albums chart and quickly disappearing. Stevens' follow-up single also failed to gain much attention. Critics began to write her off as a one-hit wonder until she came back with the song "Some Girls" (2004) which quickly became a hit in the UK, peaking at number two. This was later followed by the October release of the widley successful single "More, More, More" which acted as a close on her debut album. Stevens would then returned to music in March 2005 with her first single from her 2005 sophomore album "Come And Get It". The single "Negotiate With Love" became Stevens third Top Ten hit and it would not be her last. In late 2005 Stevens released her second solo album, which failed to perform well on the pop charts, becoming a commercial failure even though it was praised by the pop music press and other outlets, such as The New York Times. To the delight of a cheering crowd, Rachel had a pie thrown in her face on the UK show "Ministry of Mayhem" after singing "Negotiate With Love".

Biography

George was born in Perth, Western Australia, daughter of Pamela, a nurse, and Glenn George, a construction worker. The second of four children, George developed an interest in dancing and began studying jazz, tap, ballet, and modern dance at the age of seven. Her enthusiasm for dance eventually evolved into a passion for roller skating. George was an Australian national roller skating champion and won bronze medals in the National Championships in 1989 and 1990. She also won a silver medal at the Junior World Championship in 1991.

Career

George started modeling in her early teens and in 1992 she was named Western Australia's Teenage Model of the Year. At age sixteen she was discovered by casting agent Liz Mullinar and got the role of Angel Parrish alongside Dieter Brummer on the popular Australian soap Home and Away. George left Perth and moved to Sydney to start her acting career. After three years on the show she decided to leave to try find other acting challenges. Biography

Grace was born in Worthington, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, the eldest of three children. She took to acting at an early age, performing in several local theatre productions, among them Jewish Community Center's Gallery Players' 2000 production of The Crucible. The director of that play, John S. Kuhn, said of Grace "Even at that young age she brought a lot to her work."

At 16, Grace left Ohio with her mother, Valinn, for Los Angeles. Things were tough for a while and the young actress frequently found herself struggling to pay her rent. Maggie was widely rumored to have won the role of Shadowcat in X-Men: The Last Stand , but the role eventually went to Ellen Page. Maggie later revealed that she had never been contacted about the role and was surprised to read she was up for the part in question.

Bosworth was born Catherine Ann Bosworth in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Hal Bosworth, a former executive for Talbots, and Patricia (Potter), a homemaker. She was born with sectoral heterochromia, resulting in a hazel section at the bottom of her right blue eye, while the left is completely blue. After leaving San Francisco at the age of six, Bosworth's family frequently moved around the country because of her father's job, and she grew up mainly on the East Coast, spending the rest of her youth in Darien, Connecticut and Cohasset, Massachusetts.

While attending Cohasset High School (from which she graduated in 2001), Bosworth learned to speak Spanish and was a member of the National Honor Society; she also played varsity soccer and lacrosse. She has also recently bought the film rights to Catherine Hanrahan's novel Lost Girls and Love Hotels, about a young woman looking to escape in Tokyo's seedy nightlife. Personal life

Bosworth was accepted to Princeton University in late 2000, but continues to defer her attendance. She is also a member of the Appalachia Service Project.

Bosworth previously dated actor Matt Czuchry, whom she met on the set of their short-lived television series, Young Americans. Their relationship lasted from 2000 to 2002. Then, in late 2002, she began dating actor Orlando Bloom. The two met outside a coffee shop and were introduced to each other by a friend, before meeting again at the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Bosworth and Bloom separated in 2005 but shortly after resumed their relationship. Bullock was born in Arlington County, Virginia to John W. Bullock, a Pentagon contractor and part-time vocal coach from Alabama, and Helga D. Meyer, a German opera singer who died of cancer on April 4, 2000; Bullock's maternal grandfather was a rocket scientist from Nuremberg. Bullock lived in Nuremberg, Germany until age twelve, where she sang in the opera's children's choir at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. She frequently traveled with her mother on her opera tours, and lived in Germany and other parts of Europe for much of her childhood. Bullock studied ballet and vocal arts as a child, taking small parts in her mother's opera productions.

Bullock attended Washington-Lee High School where she was a cheerleader, participated in high school theater productions and dated a football player. She graduated in 1982 and enrolled in East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. During this time she worked as a waitress at a restaurant. She left school during her senior year (Spring 1986), three credits short of graduating, to pursue an acting career. While in New York, Bullock took acting classes at The Neighborhood Playhouse. She appeared in several student films and later landed a role in an Off-Broadway play No Time Flat. Director Alan J. Levi was impressed by Bullock's performance and offered her a part in the made-for-TV movie Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman (1989). She also made sporadic "cameo" appearances in the show as "Accident Amy," a factory worker prone to accidents in the workplace. Bullock tried to produce a film based on F.X. Toole's short story Million-Dollar Baby, but couldn't interest studios in a female boxing drama. Bullock was once engaged to actor Tate Donovan whom she met while filming Love Potion No. 9. Their relationship lasted four years. She had previously dated football player Troy Aikman, blues guitarist Guy Forsythe, Steve Buscemi, Austin musician Bob Schneider (for two years) and film co-stars, Ryan Gosling and Matthew McConaughey. On December 20, 2000, Bullock survived the crash of a chartered business jet at Jackson Hole Airport. When the September 11, 2001 attacks occurred, Bullock was staying at the Soho Grand hotel, twelve blocks from the World Trade Center. She saw the attacks from her hotel bedroom window and went to a nearby hospital to offer help. The woman is said to be an obsessed fan of Sandra Bullock. The woman, Marcia Diana Valentine, was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon. Kristin Laura Kreuk (born December 30, 1982) is a Canadian actress and model, known for her roles on the Canadian television series Edgemont and on the American television series Smallville.
Kreuk was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her father, Peter Kreuk, is of Dutch ancestry and her mother, Deanna Che, is of Chinese ancestry; both are landscape architects. She also has a younger sister. Kreuk was planning to study either psychology, environmental science, or forensic science at Simon Fraser University when a casting director for the CBC TV series Edgemont called her high school, looking for an "exotic"-looking girl to play the part of Laurel Yeung on the Vancouver-shot show. Kreuk, who had no previous experience in acting other than children's arts groups and musicals at her high school, was convinced to audition for the role by her drama teacher. Much to her surprise, she won the part.

After shooting the first season of Edgemont (a teen soap opera set at a Vancouver-area high school) and getting herself an agent, Kreuk landed the lead role of Snow White in a TV movie entitled Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. The film, shot in Vancouver, also starred actress Miranda Richardson. It aired on ABC on March 17, 2002.
After Snow White, Kreuk's agent sent an audition tape to movie screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who at the time were putting together the cast of a show they had created for the WB Network entitled Smallville. The program (which was slated to be shot in Vancouver) was to revolve around the life of teenager Clark Kent, alias Superboy. Gough and Millar called Kreuk to the WB's studios in Burbank, California to audition for the role of Clark Kent's pre-Lois Lane love, Lana Lang. Originally, Kreuk was not so sure about auditioning for the Lana role, as the character was to be a gorgeous, popular cheerleader and so she assumed that the part would be that of a shallow "idiot". However, upon reading the "graveyard scene" from the pilot, she was so impressed that when she was offered the role, she immediately accepted it.
The executives at Neutrogena decided to make her the cover girl for their new worldwide ad campaign; in this regard Kreuk followed in the footsteps of fellow teen stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Mandy Moore.
As of January 2004, Kreuk is currently at work on the third season of Smallville. She also recently wrapped up her role on Edgemont. Kreuk was also tapped for her first feature film role in the summer of 2003; she made a cameo appearance in the movie Eurotrip, starring Scott Mechlowicz and Michelle Trachtenberg. Rachel Emily Nichols, born January 8, 1980, is an American actress, currently known for her film work and for her portrayal of CIA agent Rachel Gibson on the ABC television series Alias.

Nichols was born and raised in Augusta, Maine, where she attended Cony High School. As a sophomore at Cony, she studied abroad in France, an experience that would, in hindsight, prepare her well for her future career. Surprisingly (given her current status as a top model and actress), Nichols admitted to Latino Review that she "wasn't the hot chick" in high school, referring to herself instead as a "late bloomer."Upon graduation, she headed to Columbia University in New York, intent on studying psychology.

It was at Columbia where the events fell into place that determined Nichols' current career path. According to Nichols, she stumbled into modeling accidentally: "I was in the right place at the right time and decided to give modeling a try," she would later say. It wasn't very long before she was posing for companies like Guess? and Abercrombie & Fitch, while also enrolling in drama classes at Columbia, never knowing when she might need them. She maintained a difficult schedule throughout college, balancing her studies in New York City with photo shoots in Europe. On top of all that, Nichols decided in 2002 to really pursue acting in earnest.

At first, Nichols appeared in various television shows in bit parts (her first auditioned role, which she won, was that of an orgy-loving restaurant hostess in a 2002 episode of Sex and the City), but later that year she won the role of Jessica, the dogged school-newspaper reporter, in Dumb and Dumberer. She left Columbia midway through her last semester to shoot the picture, but still managed to graduate on time despite the demanding modeling schedule. She wrote two term papers and took the final exam of her undergraduate career just days before shipping all of her things to Atlanta, where Dumberer was being filmed.

Dumberer was a theater flop, but Nichols turned heads with both her beauty (a known commodity at that point) and her acting skills, which were a surprise to all involved. If the Jessica role seemed natural to Nichols, it was because she herself had been an editor with the school newspaper back in Augusta. After her appearance in Dumberer, Hollywood began to seriously notice Nichols, and she has since earned roles in the television series Line of Fire, plus the 2005 horror movies The Amityville Horror and The Woods.

In 2004, FOX planned to develop a series vaguely reminiscent of their first hit drama, 21 Jump Street. They enlisted Todd & Glenn Kessler (of Robbery Homicide Division) to create the show, tentatively named The Inside. The Kesslers cast Nichols as a 22-year-old federal agent who impersonates a high-school girl in an undercover operation; they also cast Fastlane's Peter Facinelli and model Willa Holland, and shot a pilot. The pilot underwhelmed studio execs, though, and FOX brought in Angel writer Tim Minear to re-tool the concept. Minear ended up radically changing the show's story and purging the entire cast -- save for Nichols, who remained the show's centerpiece. While some sources said that Nichols was kept on because FOX pressured Minear to do so, Minear stood by a different story: "Even if [Nichols] wasn't already living in this show when I got there I'd have cast her. [She's] a star in the making, I feel. And an unspoiled delight..." he told Variety.

The new concept more closely echoed Silence of the Lambs than Jump Street, and Nichols' character had been dramatically altered as well: now she was rookie Special Agent Rebecca Locke, assigned to Los Angeles' FBI Violent Crimes Unit, an elite group of criminal profilers charged with tracking the city's most dangerous deviants. Another of Minear's new wrinkles was that Nichols' character now had a marked similarity to the back-story of Elizabeth Smart, including a history of suffering, kidnapping, and abuse. The summer 2005 series received mixed reviews and a limited run, though the performances of Nichols (who says she "tested mostly for high school parts" before winning The Inside's dark lead role) and co-star Peter Coyote received generally favorable marks from critics.

After the failed FOX series, Nichols quickly found work again, this time on the ABC series Alias in the fall of 2005. Nichols portrayed Rachel Gibson, a computer expert duped into thinking she works for the CIA, when in fact she is working for a dangerous terrorist organization -- a predicament not far removed from that of Sydney Bristow in Alias' first season. Discovering the truth, Nichols' character later joins the real CIA and becomes Bristow's protégé, complete with undercover missions and martial arts scenes -- which Nichols had to work hard to make realistic, struggling at first with the stunts. Coincidentally, Alias marked the second series in a row for Nichols in which she portrayed a government agent.

Although ABC announced the cancellation of Alias effective in May 2006, Nichols' character was created as a possible replacement for series star Jennifer Garner's Sydney, had the actress chosen to leave the show or scale back her involvement in the series (this, in fact, did begin to occur as the season progressed and Garner's real-life pregnancy prevented her from taking part in many action sequences). On May 22, 2006, Nichols appeared in Alias' final episode, "All the Time in the World".

After starring in two canceled television series in the last calendar year, Nichols is now turning her attention back to the big screen, with two movies set to come out in 2007. The first, Resurrecting the Champ, stars Josh Hartnett as a sportswriter who finds a former boxing legend (Samuel L. Jackson) living homeless on the streets. The second, P2, marks a return to the horror genre for Nichols, as she portrays a businesswoman who gets trapped inside a public parking garage with a deranged security guard.
